Facial Comparison (Mapping)
Morphological analysis of questioned [incident] imagery to determine the reliability of the presentation of facial features. The process is then repeated on the known [reference] material and the differences/similarities are then evaluated in terms of their overall significance.

Clothing/Weapon/Object Comparison
Image comparison techniques can be applied to determine the nature of a recorded object, or to compare it with a recovered item.

Chronology/Event analysis
Imagery evidence records the sequence of events and a detailed analysis can answer the question we are often asked: "what happened?".
Pestell FVA can provide a frame-by-frame commentary to help the jury understand what took place and to avoid common misconceptions or biased perceptions.

Image Processing
Including the production of master copies from original recordings and high quality copies in a variety of formats. Imagery may be enhanced and people or vehicles tracked and highlighted during this process.

Critique
The opposing side may commission their own expert report. In order to apply the principle of Equality of Arms it is important for any such report to be properly scrutinised and, if necessary, challenged. A critique will consider such aspects as the training and experience of the author, the methodologies employed in the analysis, the potential for cognitive bias, whether best practice has been applied and whether any conclusions are properly supported by the available imagery evidence.
